Dark Arts is an independent design consultancy specialising in light and was established in 2017 by our Director Sam. From an architectural background, Sam’s design method ties together lighting and architecture by using light to create form, drama and the entire “feel” of a project by setting the perfect architectural scene.

Our team of trained architects and spatial designers working with light approach any project with a sense of environmental awareness; we appreciate how our lighting design will impact not just the visual appearance, but also the behaviour and experience of every occupant.

Independence

As design consultants we don’t sell light fittings! Dark Arts will never try to upsell or push more product – in fact most good lighting designs have fewer fixtures because the placement is well considered.

Being independent means, we specify the best product for our client’s unique personality, budget or timeline. Our un-biased advice on any competing lighting product saves so much money for our clients that this process often pays for our services outright.
